The first thing Mr. King did when he entered the delivery room was walk up to his son and hug him. No one said a word as father and son held each other for several minutes. They both sobbed uncontrollably and when they finally let one another go, the doctor handed Jon Jr. his son but he shook his head no, “Let my dad hold his grandson,” he ordered.

Kennedy beamed with pride at the selfless act her husband had just performed. She had fallen head over heels with Jon from the moment she first met him, but in this moment, she loved him even more, if that was possible. “Baby, please make the proper introduction,” said a groggy Kennedy. She was ready for a nap but not before she witnessed the coronation of a new king.

“Jonathan King, I’d like you to meet Jonathan King III,” announced Jon.

“Hello King III,” said the proud grandpa. At the sound of his voice, the baby opened his eyes and smiled.

“Avie look, he has Jon’s gorgeous green eyes,” beamed Mr. King.

“Yes he does, but look at those dimples, and that jet black hair, that’s all Kennedy,” laughed Aveline.

“Why yes it is, and thank God he takes after his beautiful mommy. Kennedy, I love you, and I’m so glad my son has such a smart, beautiful, and extremely kind woman like you by his side. Please allow me to offer my sincerest apologies for my behavior and if you and Jon allow me, I would love to pay for both of your educations as well as put a down payment on a very modest home for the three of you.” Mr. King was now standing next to Kennedy’s bed, holding the baby in one arm, and holding his daughter-in-law’s hand with the other.

Kennedy looked at Jon for his approval before accepting the offer. She smiled at her family before drifting off to sleep. Everyone looked around and starting laughing, even the doctor.

“Don’t worry, that’s quite normal. She’s been through a lot today, and the drugs are still in her systems. You can all stay for a while, as long as you’re quiet. She should sleep for at least 4 or 5 hours. Jon, you can help the nurse bath and dress the baby and then she’ll help you make a bottle.”

“Okay Dr. Mohmand, thank you!” Jon took his son from his dad and handed him to the nurse. When he looked into his son’s eyes, the same eyes that he possessed, he lost it. He began sobbing again and vowing to never hurt or disappoint him. He was so emotional that the nurse offered to give him a sedative.

“He’s okay nurse Daley, he’s just a bit overwhelmed,” said Mr. King. He helped his son sit down and then he patted him on the back. “You did good son, I’m proud of you!”

Those words were like music to Jon’s ears. He now felt complete, he had the perfect little family, and with his dad’s help, he would become the man Kennedy always wanted and already knew she had.
